Error / Issue with registration code generation

I've created a test db with username, password, email, accesslevel fields. When creating the login page with advanced options and requiring email registration. When the form is generated there is no email field on the registration page but trying to save the registration results in an 'enter a valid email address' error. Suggestions to correct or is this a PHPR error?
