Make list column sortable

Not really sure if I understand the question. All columns are sortable by default. Please elaborate.

You need to make these changes on the Fields tab. Don't just do in in the Visual editor.

The editor will automatically have you new fields you decide to have on the list page and they will by default be sortable.

Yes!
I learned early on to try everything else before making design changes in the editor. You can do so much in the tables/fields/sort/style sections without having to make any design changes. By avoiding the editor, you gain the ability to quickly add/remove fields, configure filtering, sorting, field order and lots of other things and have the page automatically stay in sync with those changes. If, on the other hand, you start moving fields around in the editor you either have to "lock" the page and lose the syncing ability, or possibly lose those changes. I kept doing that early on.
