changing width of displayed bg-table

now, would it be possible to also define the width of the displayed background-table?
If user enters value 1 - bg-table width is 1 inch

If user enters value 2 - bg-table width is 2 inch etc.
that way I could integrate diagram-bulks without using gifs.
