Return to Master Table

I have attached some screen shots. I noticed this in the past, but was unable to put a pattern to the problem.
But, here is what I think Is going on. If I am on the master table list, and I click the Notes choice and then Edit a note and then click on back to list, I am returned to the master table list. If I then go to View the note, and I click on back to list, I am returned to the list View not the master record view.
Now, if I just click view and then return all is well. It only seems to happen when I edit a detail record and then go immediately back to View the detail record.
